Another fundraising effort kicked off Friday night before Opening Ceremonies at the historic Members Long Bar at Sydney Cricket Grounds, where New York Front Runners John Kiley and Gene Silbert, partners since 1953, hosted a reception for some 250 New Yorkers and Sydneysiders to announce their G & J Rainbow Community Foundation, which will offer assistance to LGBT athletes.

"We want to offer help to promising lesbian and gay athletes, because we never had that kind of opportunity," Kiley said. Every previous Games has given New Yorkers a reason to get involved in team sports, and this Games has been no exception.
